The National Stars and Stripes Museum/Library is more than a display of military newspaper artifacts.  It is unique among the world’s museums.  There is no other museum in the United States dedicated to the history of our nation’s military newspaper.  We have over 7000 square feet of attractive multimedia exhibits.  We strive to show the visitors a different perspective on the American military history.  Through exhibits and programs, the museum highlights the history of the Stars and Stripes from the very first issue, printed by Union troops in November 1861, through the wars of the 20th century and into the modern era.

Located in Bloomfield, Missouri, we are next to the Missouri Veterans Cemetery. We are a non-profit, 501(c) 3, educational institution dedicated to preserving material related to the creation of our nation’s military newspaper, the Stars and Stripes.  We do not charge admission to the museum because we want to be a resource for all individuals. School groups from the southeast Missouri area regularly use our archives.  Currently, we have over 35,000 original Stars and Stripes newspapers in our collection.

We are open Mon, Wed-Fri 10-4, and Sat 10-2. We are closed Tue and Sun.
